Satisfaction is a word that doesn’t get enough recognition as far as I’m concerned. What is satisfaction? For me it is a feeling of accomplishment, or a feeling of appreciation. When I feel satisfied I feel elation and love. To be in a state of joy is a feeling of satisfaction but sometimes it’s hard to see how you could feel happy again. Especially when things that are totally out of your control occur in your experience. Then you might get a case of the what-ifs. That’s when you second guess yourself or put yourself down in some way. But that’s when you need to get into the practice of looking for things to feel good about. When a situation develops that you were not expecting, such as a break-up, it may seem hard to feel good. But even though you may not be able to find the best feeling to bring you out of your funk, you could find a slightly better feeling and as you keep practicing finding a little better feeling then another little better feeling you will eventually find yourself in a pretty good mood, therefore you will find the bad feelings have faded away into never-never land. Then you can focus on the things you really want to happen in your life. When you reach for better thoughts in increments it is a much easier path to get to the really good stuff that life is all about.
When you really think about it we never stop evolving. I’m sure you can think back to a time when you were much different than you are now. I’m also sure that it would be safe to say that over time you have been many different people and are still continuing to become a new and improved you. One thing I have come to understand in my own experience is that it is much more satisfying to not chase my dreams but to let them come to me naturally. I feel that when I am trying to make things happen the way I want them to, I get all twisted up inside. Overwhelming thoughts start to take over my mind and nothing seems to go right or make sense. When I have an idea I like to give it time to mature before I get started on the doing of it. I like to wait to be inspired to the best action, and then it feels like it is moving at the right pace, at the right time.
You know, satisfaction doesn’t have to a big thing. It could be as small as a butterfly flying past you or a song on the radio that gets your juices flowing. When you really start looking for things that bring a smile to your face things will just flow smoother. I like to go around my house and look at all that I have accomplished up until now and just feel good about everything. I say things like, I love my kitchen and I love my floors and I love my windows, and even though it may seem silly to most people, what is actually happening is I am raising my positive vibration to meet my expectations of what I still want to come into my life. When you find appreciation in all the things that are current in your now, you make room for all the new stuff coming into your future. And if you really think about it there is never a future because when it gets here it is the now. Tricky huh? So staying satisfied is essential to living a blessed and happy life. People, you are never going to find happiness in a state of, I’ll be happy when I accomplish this or when I acquire that or find the right mate. It starts with you and only you. When you figure out what it is you really want and then let yourself dream it and let it grow within you, nothing and no one else will matter. Yes it is wonderful to have friends and mates but they are not essential to your happiness.
I have been practicing these ideas for a while now and believe me when I say my life feels magical. Things that I would have never thought could happen have happened and life just keeps getting better and better. Loving life is a satisfaction all its’ own. Once I started being deliberate about what I was thinking and how I was feeling everything went from doom and gloom, to sunshine and lolly pops. I gave up worrying because it just didn’t feel good and it got me nowhere. And fear was just as useless. When you are in a state of fear you become stagnant. All negative emotions are just indicators of what track you are on. If you are joyous then things can move forward, but when you feel sad or mad or blameful or any number of ugly feelings you stop all momentum. Is this making sense to you? I hope it is because it doesn’t get any clearer than this. Stay happy, move forward, stay unhappy, stop movement.
So where do you want to be? What do you really want? And what are you going to do about it? These are questions you should be asking yourself on a daily basis. Keep yourself on your toes and then see what miracles await you. In fact, after you start witnessing these so called miracles you will come to know them as truths and they will seem normal and natural. I know I’ve said it before but I’m going to say it again and again, Life is supposed to be good. If you need to remind yourself of this very important fact, put sticky notes up anywhere and everywhere to keep it in your face. Do whatever it takes to keep yourself as happy as possible, and when you find yourself a little unhappy change the subject to a topic that is better for you at that moment. It might be a good idea to have a list of things that make you happy to look at when things are a little off. If one thing doesn’t work try something else. Different moods call for different actions, but only you will know what is best for you.
I could go on and on about this all day but until you start practicing being happy and seeing the good that comes from it my words are just words. It’s like your mom giving you good advice but you think, what does she know? Then what she warned you about happens and you say, oh damn, she was right. But you had to see for yourself, right? Well this is the same thing. It’s up to you to do it or don’t do it but either way it is your choice and it’s okay. This is your life to live any way you want to, happy or sad. Everything is a choice and we all live in our own little world. We are our own master of creation and we can be, do or have ANYTHING we want to. When I say ANYTHING I mean it. Don’t sell yourself short. You don’t have to be the smartest person on earth or even the most popular person, you just need to be the best you that you can be and that is good enough. Never listen to the peanut gallery. Those are just people trying to get you to do want they want to make their selves happy through you. You are not here to please anyone but you. In fact, when you are trying to please everyone else you please no one, especially not you.
So, what have you learned here today? If you read it right you should have learned one very important thing and that is to stay happy at all costs. Unless you enjoy being miserable, that’s up to you, and that’s perfectly alright too. But if I were you, I would go for the gold. Be the shiny beautiful soul that you are meant to be and love yourself with all your heart. You will be so glad you did. Remember that there is great love here for you and wellbeing abounds. So until we meet again.
With all my Love,
Deb Mertan
