I saw a podcast on my Facebook page today from a minister. I don’t know this man, but he was talking about something I have been thinking about for a while now. I know the Universe brought his video to me because he was saying all the things that were in my mind. The one thing that really stood out to me was that he said, “I stopped being black.” I know you’re probably thinking, “He can’t do that.” But he can. He was talking in response to all the flack he was getting from his congregation. They were calling him an “Uncle Tom” and other such things. He was explaining that he was just tired of being treated as a second class citizen and he wasn’t going to feel that way anymore. He wasn’t saying he was ashamed of being black, he was saying that he is a man and he is as worthy as anyone to be who he wants to be. He is an equal and that comes from within. We are all what we think we are.
I think that what he is trying to get across to all of us is that we have to stop fighting what we don’t want and surrender into what we do want. When we are fighting and hating one another we are just creating more of what we don’t want. As Mother Teresa said, I will not join you in a fight against war, but if you have a rally for peace I will be there, or something to that effect. So when we surrender and release the hate we have the opportunity to become whomever and whatever we as individuals choose to be.
This is a new millennia and we have come a long way. I feel it’s time to start a new generation of loving beings. We can decide to change the hate by not categorizing one another. We are all equals in the eyes of God. And if you believe there even is a God then you must know that’s true. I don’t use the word God very often because so many people have a different view of what that means. You can call it Infinite Intelligence or the Universe or Buddha or any number of names but it all boils down to this, we all come from a spiritual place, and we are all loving beings. I wrote a blog called, “God Does Not Make Mistakes.” I believe this with all my heart. He/She just wants us to love one another and love ourselves as well. You don’t have to believe or agree with what your neighbor believes or does, just stop insisting that we all be the same. We all have the God given right to be whom we choose to be. We need to appreciate each other for our differences. Life would be awfully boring if everyone was the same. And when you know who you are you can expect great things to come your way.
Do you know the saying, “Like attracts like or That which is liken to itself is drawn?” If not you should look up these sayings, they’re even in the bible. But what I am trying to get across to you is that whatever is in your heart, whatever you dwell upon, whatever you think and speak about, is what will appear in your life experience. Hate attracts hate and love attracts love. Hate is passed down from generation to generation. But it’s time to stop the hate and let the love take over.
When we start letting love lead the way everything works itself out. Things are always working out for all of us if we just let the love flow. I know this all sounds so simple but in reality it is that simple. But like anything it takes practice. We need to practice not saying negative things and not getting angry over things we have no control over. The only thing we have total control over is our emotions. And another thing that is important to remember is that NOW is all we have. The past is gone and the future is not here yet. NOW is all we have and if we live each moment looking for what makes us happy as individuals we won’t have time to worry about what anyone else is doing or thinking. We all have the right to live a joyous life. But we have to believe that we can be happy and then as we practice this we will know that this is the way we are supposed to live. This is a lifestyle change and when you give it a chance you will see how wonderful life is.
Well I guess I gave you enough food for thought. I hope you consider what I’ve said here and at least give it a shot. Then you will see for yourself that life is supposed to be good for all of us and we are all supposed to be happy. We are all worthy of a great life and it is up to each of us individually to figure out what we want and then let ourselves have it.
